Abstract

Academic media center policies often differ widely from policies for other academic collections. This article provides an in-depth analysis between the collection development and circulation policies of two academic media centers, use studies conducted at the two centers, and the results of a national survey of academic media center policies. Results indicate that though media formats and center reporting structures change rapidly, and media collections are still not receiving support in keeping with their use, media center policies continue to reflect a strong commitment to faculty/instructor use in the classroom, sometimes to the detriment of others users and uses.
