Abstract
Direct instruction is an effective strategy to use for reading and other classes. It should be used to teach low-level reading subskills such as letter-sound associations. It is necessary, but far from sufficient. To use it as a method of reading instruction would be educational malpractice. Dr. Andy Johnson, Reading Specialist. www.Readocity.com
