Description
The aim of this doctoral project was to establish a multidisciplinary Community of Practice for core healthcare providers in all settings and across the lifespan, to facilitate networking, education, and advocacy on caring for autistic individuals and families. With the support of the Autism Society of Minnesota, a virtual community was established. Participation in the community is voluntary, open to all healthcare providers without geographical limitations, and involvement may occur at varying levels based on participant’s needs. The goal of the community is to improve access to quality healthcare to decrease health disparities in the autistic community. This presentation will give the attendee an introduction to providing patient-centered care for autistic individuals in any healthcare setting.
