Abstract
An excitation function for the 18F~p,a!15O reaction has been measured in the energy range Ec.m.5600–800 keV using a radioactive 18F beam. A resonant state with a spin value of 3/21 has been found at an energy of 652 keV above threshold. This l p50 resonance is found to dominate the astrophysical reaction rate at temperatures T9.0.5.
