Abstract
A feature-length documentary about Navajo youth on the reservation in Arizona & New Mexico who play in metal bands and have created a social/musical scene. Their engagement with music is shown to be a form of communal self-reflection on many of the problems and difficulties associated with life on the Rez. The film explores this unique youth culture, as a philosophically valid way to interpret tradition and self-identity through music.
This is an in-person event for faculty, staff, students, and the community at Minnesota State University, Mankato's Ostrander Auditorium on April 18, 2022 at 7:00 PM.
