Description

The Minnesota State University, Mankato Beta Kappa chapter of Eta Sigma Gamma received a grant to plan and implement a safety belt education project from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (MDPS). The target audience is primarily MSU students, but the project may include education of students in surrounding schools such as Bethany Lutheran College, Gustavus Adolphus College, and South Central Technical College. Our goal is to increase safety belt use among the target audience by 10 percent. Our research has consisted of information that has been provided by the MPDS. We also plan to survey cars entering parking lots at various locations on all campuses. We will enter various classrooms and utilize various leaching methods, such as discussions, videos, and games. Prizes will also be offered, not only as incentives to learn, but also as rewards to those who are surveyed and are wearing safety belts.
