Description
This project tested the effects of fuel containing 20% ethanol (E20) against El0 and gasoline, following several ASTM and SAE standards. The project involved soaking the elastomer test samples in fuel at an elevated temperature for 500 hours. Properties inspected we appearance, volume, mass, durometer hardness and tensile strength. Three sets of samples were prepared, one that wasn't immersed, one for post immersion wet testing and one that was dried out in an oven overnight after immersion. The data was collected and analyzed to compare the amount of change caused by E20 which was compares to the change caused by E 10 and gasoline.
