Description
The topic of this research is to understand the effect of study abroad on language learning and intercultural competence. As the number of U.S. students who study abroad increases, along with the cost of higher education, understanding the value of a study abroad experience becomes more and more important. Conclusions were drawn from a review of the research literature and interviews with students who have studied abroad. Overall, the literature suggests that students who study language abroad increase their cultural competence and language proficiency more so than their non-study abroad counterparts. Results from the student interviews are pending.
