Isn't Sugar Sweet? & Other Stories
Abstract
This short story collection, Isn’t Sugar Sweet? & Other Stories, has been revised extensively and now comprises twelve coming-of-age stories, many with young and gay underdog protagonists. Each tale tackles serious themes, including abuse and psychological angst. For example, in “Our Semester with Maxine Fischer,” the sudden suicide of a classmate haunts a group of college students. Isn't Sugar Sweet? & Other Stories is an enthralling, yet deeply gritty, beacon of self-acceptance in a world still rife with sexism, homophobia, and racism.
