Abstract

This Thesis is submitted in partial fulfillment of the Masters of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Arts: Sound Design at Minnesota State University, Mankato. This thesis provides an account of Anastasiia Didenko’s process of work on sound design and research for The Women of Troy by Euripides. The show was produced and performed in the Ted Paul Theatre in November of 2025.

The first chapter consists of preliminary research, thoughts on the production and plans for the implementation of the sound design. The second chapter is a historical and critical perspective of the play, which explores the playwright's ideas and the factors that influenced the creation of the tragedy. The third chapter is a journal of the author of the thesis created during the work process. The fourth chapter is a post-production analysis of the work and the results. The fifth chapter is a process development that analyzes the growth and work accomplished by the author during her three years of study. This thesis also contains appendices, works cited and works consulted.
