Abstract
An ROTC instructor at a large, public research institution in the Southwest collaborated with an instructional designer at a new branch campus of a small, private, Catholic institution in a neighboring community. As part of the newly established ROTC program at the smaller school, the ROTC instructor used Cloud technology to create a collaborative learning environment for the military science courses at the two universities. To help train the students in leadership, personal development, officership, values and ethics, and teamwork, the instructor utilized service learning as the method for exploring the content. Two massive service-learning projects were conceived, organized, and executed by over 50 ROTC cadets at both institutions. Design strategies, lessons learned, and implemented revisions to the program are discussed.
