Abstract
Receiving a new medical diagnosis has shown to have an emotional and mental strain on the family members causing feelings of hopelessness and lack of control. This is especially prominent when patients are diagnosed with a chronic illness, such as cancer. Cancer is a worldwide epidemic that millions of people are diagnosed and treated for annually. Family anxiety can run high when learning a member of the family is diagnosed with cancer and can play a major role in the family's functionality and mental health.
