Abstract
Family waiting includes the emotions felt during different events affecting a family including chronic illnesses, pregnancy, and surgery. Genetic testing is a process that often brings about a multitude of emotions for patients and their families. This is important as some individuals want to know if their risks of a particular genetic condition whereas others do not. If a person has the genes positive for a specific condition it usually affects the family and how they are likely to care for their loved ones. The purpose of this presentation is to describe the impact genetic testing can have on a family, especially when it comes to waiting for results.
