Description

In response to increasing concern over the use of snowmobiles in environmentally sensitive areas, the National Park Service has begun a phase-out of snowmobiles in all national parks beginning this season. The impact of this decision has affected both snowmobile manufacturers and consumers. What can be done in order to create a reasonable solution to this problem? By creating snowmobiles that are low in air and noise pollution as well as cost-effective for both private individuals and outfitters, several universities across North America involved in the 2001 Clean Snowmobile Challenge have responded with new and innovative solutions to this growing problem.
