Abstract
In the teaching of a topic such as automatic transmissions, the instructor may often encounter difficulty in determining the most effective procedure for presenting the information. Industrial arts has long accepted the hypothesis that the use of the demonstration nethod is superior to the lecture method for instruction in technical subjects. However, demonstrations may take different forms. Today, the use of cut-away models is often replacing the use of working models as a teaching aid to be used in the demonstration for both industry and education. The use of either style of aid will be an improvement on the lecture method, but we do not know if one will produce superior results when compared to the other. This study was conducted to determine if a cut-away model is more effective than a working model when used as a teaching aid in the demonstration-lecture nethod of developing knowledge of autonntic transmission concepts.
